This week I am going to digress from my photographer Friday Favorites and mix it up with another list I have, My Life List.. It’s a list of things I want to do in my lifetime, I know with the title… What can I say… I’m to fancy like that! Anywho, #8 on this list is “to be a Vegetarian for a month”. Doesn’t sound too hard right?, but i’ve attempted this three times and have failed. So why would this time be any different?
Insert Netflix Binge on Food Documentaries.
Recently, I just reactivated my Netflix account, and decided to catch up on all that I was missing of the “Walking Dead” and had some time to check out some series that I haven’t watched yet, like “The L Word” (interesting… very interesting… more on that later). Another flick on my Netflix list was Food Inc. – A documentary about the meat and food industry. I was not prepared for what I saw. Can this really be true??? The information and images I saw had my mouth on the floor just flabbergasted at how these poor animals are being treated. I am not going to recap the movie here, or even go into anymore detail because its something your should experience for yourself. IF after watching it, you don’t feel the urge that I felt, fine… just allow yourself not to live in an ignorant bliss like I was.
So, I’m officially disgusted with the entire concept of eating flesh! Moreover, the other films I watched have me now on the Vegan train. It will take some time for me to switch over. I will need to discover new foods and find new places to shop, but I’m so ready!!! I want to do what I can to make sure there is a planet left for my nephews and my family beyond.
